Drama

In the study of Drama at Auburn Girls High School, students learn to become informed and innovative dramatic practitioners through a variety of challenging, academic and exciting activities. Drama engages and challenges students through activities that target making, performing and appreciating drama and theatre.

In Drama, students explore dramatic elements through the creation and interpretation of their own works and the works of others. Students are also introduced to production in theatre, lighting, directing and improvisation.

Students also learn confidence in speaking, voice projection and movement.

Students can select Drama as an elective in Years 9 and 10 and may continue the study in Year 11 and 12.

  • Group performances
  • Study of plays
  • Character crafting and performing scripted works
  • Group devising through short film
  • Designing for theatre

Areas of study for Year 11 include:

  • Study of plays
  • Improvisation
  • Refine and rehearse scripted performance material
  • Logbook recording

Areas of study for Year 12 include:

  • Australian Drama and Theatre and set text study
  • Studies in Drama and Theatre and set text study
  • Group and Individual Performances
