A Message from the Principal, Anna Tsoutsa
Welcome to Auburn Girls High School, an academically selective and comprehensive girls school.
We are a vibrant, diverse, multicultural and caring learning community where our girls are provided with extensive opportunities to thrive and achieve success. Our purpose is to equip our girls with the skills, personal qualities and determination to “Learn, Lead, Succeed” in a rapidly evolving and fast changing world filled with endless opportunities.
Our girls are the future leaders and role models of our modern society. Indeed many of our alumni are now professors, doctors, educators, CEOs, engineers and solicitors making significant contributions to our society.
We offer an extensive curriculum with a broad range of programs for all our girls to achieve excellence in their academic, technological, creative, sporting, social, cultural and leadership endeavours. Embedded in our curriculum is a focus on the development of future focussed skills including innovation, problem solving, teamwork and communication, thus equipping our girls with the skills required to transition effectively into the world of further study and work.
Academic excellence is a priority with the majority of our HSC students pursuing further study at university or TAFE and many receiving awards for excellence in academic and extra-curricular competitions. Our valued partnerships with several universities including Sydney, Macquarie, NSW and Western Sydney ensure our girls are familiar and more confident with university life. Transition beyond school, including applications, guidance and course advice to universities is supported with individual student mentoring from our specialist transition and careers teachers.
Student voice is heard and respected. It is integral in informing our school’s improvement plans. Student leadership is nurtured and we have a highly effective Prefect Leadership Team and Student Representative Council at work in the school. The School offers many programs to facilitate student leadership including programs with partners from our local community and global businesses.
Social responsibility and ethical behaviour underpin all relationships and actions. Each year group supports a charity and students are encouraged to undertake community service and volunteering activities. Our girls are supported to become resilient, ethical, well-rounded high achievers with a social conscience and a desire to enrich and lead society in the future.
Auburn Girls provides a myriad of opportunities to suit the interests and abilities of all our students. School clubs are on offer in many exciting areas. Public speaking and debating are particular areas of strength, with more recent success at state levels. The School also takes part in competitions such as Tournament of the Minds, Mock Trial and Model United Nations with great success. Our talented musicians have the opportunity to join the school band. The annual performances of our girls at the Sydney Opera House Schools Spectacular, highlights the outstanding success of our school band and performing arts groups. Sport also plays a significant role, with many individual and team successes in a range of sports. The challenges provided by the Duke of Edinburgh program has allowed our students to strive to achieve their personal best.
Positive Education underpins the curriculum at Auburn Girls enhancing the wellbeing of our students with effective strategies for emotional and mental wellbeing. We nurture each girl’s character strengths as they mature as young women who have integrity, are resilient, compassionate and courageous to live healthy, fulfilling and successful lives. There is a high expectation that our girls continue to improve on their personal best and their hard work is what will ensure their success.
We value relationships and connections with our parents. A successful partnership between the school and parents will ensure the most successful outcomes are achieved by our students.
We as a school community are very proud of our school and continue to work together in harmony to ensure every girl is valued and finds her unique place in the world.
On behalf of the school and community, I warmly welcome you to this website.
