Auburn Girls High School teaches the NSW curriculum and offers a variety of subjects to support each student’s learning.
In each course, literacy and numeracy skills are integrated and developed to deepen student understanding both academically and beyond. Our teachers use targeted teaching strategies to support student progress towards achieving their learning goals.

What students learn
Students learn a wide range of subjects in the NSW curriculum. They build skills, think creatively and prepare for life beyond school.
Auburn Girls High School offers a range of courses to students that include mandatory and electives. Students in Subject choices vary from year to year
Year 7
Core subjects: English, History, Integrated Sport and PDHPE, Mandatory Technology, Maths, Music, Science Positive Education and Study Skills lesson
Choice: SRE, Non SRE
Year 8
Core subjects: English, Geography, Integrated Sport and PDHPE, Mandatory Technology, Maths, Science Visual Arts
Choice: choose one language to study for the year + SRE or Non SRE
Year 9 & 10
Core subjects: English, Geography, History, Integrated Sport and PDHPE, Mandatory Technology, Maths, Science Year 10 Careers only
Choice: students complete two electives + SRE or Non SRE
Year 11 & 12
Core subject: English
Choice: students complete five additional subjects in year 11. Year 12 have the option to reduce to four subjects

NSW public schools offer Special Religious Education (SRE) which is education in the beliefs and practices of religious persuasion. It is delivered by authorised representatives of approved religious groups to students who have nominated that religion.
At Auburn Girls High School (AGHS), SRE is offered once a fortnight:
- Years 8 & 10 - 1 period every two weeks, Semester 1 (Terms 1 & 2)
- Years 7 & 9 - 1 period every two weeks, Semester 2 (Terms 3 & 4).
Current SRE options are:
- Combined Islamic SRE: Tutors are provided by the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) and Islamic Council, NSW (ICNSW).
- Combined Christian SRE: Tutors are provided by The Anglican Diocese of Sydney the Auburn Anglican Church.
When enrolling your child, parents are asked to choose an option from the approved providers offered at our school. Parents can change their choice at any time by informing the school via email and completing the online form
Students who don't choose SRE attend the Non-SRE classes which cover effective study habits, time management skills, and revision strategies.

Auburn Girls High School has a robust HPGE program designed to support HPGE students excel. HPGE students tend to grasp complex concepts quickly or show strong skills in creativity, leadership, problem solving or sport.
