Students represent nations in a simulated United Nations assembly, debating global issues and proposing collaborative solutions.

• Student time commitment: The competition can run during both during school hours and after school and involves lunch and recess meetings.

Students explore and discuss complex ethical issues while developing logical reasoning, respectful dialogue and teamwork skills.

Students use design thinking, creativity and collaboration to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

• Criteria to join: Teams consist of 5 students, for students from Years 7 to 11.
• Student time commitment: The competition can run during both during school hours and after school & involves lunch and recess meetings.

Students explore careers in the property industry through practical learning experiences and engagement with industry professionals.

• Partnerships: Property Council of Australia
• Criteria to join: Year 9 and 10 students.
• Student time commitment: The competition can run during both during school hours and after school & involves lunch and recess meetings. The final competition may go into the evening.
• Cost: Free to join.

Students strengthen their public speaking, reasoning and teamwork skills by preparing and presenting arguments in competitive debates.

• HPGE Domain: Intellectual

• Partnerships: A network of schools are involved in the debating competition as well as the South-West Debating organisation.

• There is a Selection process which involves debating trials for all teams held early in the year.

  • Announcements for students who have tried out are published on SENTRAL.

  • All students are encouraged to try out.

  • There are three teams one for each stage group:

    • Stage 4 (7-8)
    • Stage 5 (9-10)
    • Stage 6 (11-12)

• Student time commitment: Debating trials are held during recess and lunch and debating teams often meet during recess and lunch to prepare for debating competitions and to develop the skills that are required for successful debating. The debating competition often runs during school hours.

• Cost: Travel costs may be involved, when the debating team travels to another school for debating competitions.

Students design, build and program robots while developing problem-solving, engineering, creativity and teamwork skills.

• HPGE Domain: Intellectual / Creative / Social-emotional

• Partnerships: Macquarie University

• Criteria to join: Any student from 7-12 with an interest in Science are encouraged to join

• Student time commitment:

  • Attend the Robotics Club every Monday afternoon.
  • Be keen to interact with and learn from experienced FTC students from other schools during mentoring and scrimmage events (will be held on school days).
  • Attend the two Saturday competition days (Regional Qualifying Event and National Championships).
  • There are some Weekend events

• Cost: Travel/food costs to attend the Saturday events held in Sydney. There may be a cost for team shirts.

Students apply mathematical knowledge and problem-solving strategies to challenging competition-style questions.

Year 12 students complete simulated HSC Mathematics examinations to strengthen their knowledge, examination technique and time-management skills.

In addition to our co-curricular activities, the school offers various clubs that develop student skills and interests. Students are invited to talk to the organising teacher to join.
